Hi, I’m Thomasin Campbell — a 22-year-old from a farming family in the north of Scotland and a recent BSc (Hons) Business Management with Marketing graduate from Harper Adams University. Growing up on our family farm gave me a strong work ethic from a young age, and it’s where my long-term passion for agriculture began. During my degree, I completed a placement year with John Deere, which gave me valuable experience in global agri-business and strengthened my interest in how innovation and communication are shaping the industry.

In my final year, I completed an Honours Research Project titled ‘Analysing the Effect of Mental Health Narratives on Young Farmers in the UK’. I chose this topic after witnessing how deeply mental health affects people within agriculture — often quietly. During my time at Harper Adams — the UK’s largest agricultural university — it became clear how common these struggles are among young people in our industry. It was a project driven by real experiences I’ve seen in agriculture, and by a belief that breaking stigma starts with how we communicate.

I’m currently based in Australia working within progressive sheep genetics operations and plan to continue gaining international experience — not only within agriculture but also through exposure to different cultures and global perspectives — including time in New Zealand and beyond — before returning to the UK in 2026. When I return home, I’ll be actively pursuing graduate opportunities within the agricultural or agri-marketing sector, combining my international experience, commercial training and farming background to contribute to the future of the industry.
